Here is an email I received lately. This email made me think hard about everyday life See what you get out of it.
I met this man.. who at 26 have accomplished more than most 40-year olds have. He can be simply described in two words. Workaholic Geek. And that's a big compliment.
He came from a simple family, studied in the province and earned his degree and his first work there. Let's just say he had a big break at an early age, and grabbed all opportunities to learn and earn. He worked in different countries, enhancing his craft. Presently, he handles several independent projects and is employed under 3 different companies. At one of his jobs, he arrives hours before his shift and leaves at even more hours after.
Not personally knowing him tho, he's often seen untalkative but he can easily be seen smiling at anyone, firm but soft spoken, and when it comes to his duties, he's really dedicated and highly analytical.
He may have all the success anyone couldn't even imagine of attaining.. but I'm afraid he has left something important behind . . .Life

Bagvertising
These handles form necklaces.
This one's for "reaching out to children with autism".
Plan on doing some heavy shopping?
Be careful when shopping with this one!
Remember -these bags must be worn properly.
This one's for a nail biting deterrent product.
Another for nail biters.
One for jumping rope
True, these aren't designer bagsbut, I thought I'd show some bags
which must be made to embarrass you!
Or to -REALLY embarrass you!
Back to designer bags here'smy personal favorite -
What happens when you lift these handles?
And after fighting the shopping crowds -there's even one for a pain reliever product!

My son-in-law and I started installing the new laminate floor in the northeast room of my basement. I finished the little bit that was left on Sunday. This was the easiest home improvement material I ever worked with. If anyone has any doubts about their ability to install this stuff, do not worry. Anyone can do this.
Things left do do in this room -
- trim out the windows
- install ceiling in closets
- install closet rods & shelving
- install closet doors
- install baseboard
- paint all trim
- extend heat ducts
- install window handles
- and finally hang entrance door w/lock set.

My NEW Wider Lens
I received my new lens this afternoon. This lens will give me the much needed lower focal lengths, I have been looking for. I have had nothing at the shorter length since I replaced my non-digital equipment. This was especially important because my camera today has an ASP-C sensor. Sure, it might not be the 'best' lens but, it will get me in the lower end today and perhaps I can find something faster in the future. In the future I will even go wider and I can worry about speed and other factors then. In the mean time this fills a gap and I will put it to good use.
Konica Minolta AF DT Zoom 18-70mm lens : As the new standard for digital SLR cameras, DT lenses are ideally suited to digital SLR cameras such as the Konica Minolta Dynax 7D and Dynax 5D that are equipped with APS-C sized (23.5x15.7mm) CCD’s. The Konica Minolta AF DT Zoom 18-70mm lens will be available in September 2005. The Konica Minolta Dynax 5D uses an optical system ideally suited to a APS-C sized (23.5 x 15.7 mm) CCD, in addition to spherical lenses to reduce spherical aberrations, AD (anomalous dispersion) glass, and a special lens coating that reduces flare that can occur in digital SLR cameras. Effective Anti-Shake compensation equivalent to a shutter speed 2 - 3 stops slower with Dynax digital SLR camera.
Using information obtained from the lens’ built-in distance encoder, Advanced Distance Integration (ADI) flash metering calculates the optimum exposure settings and flash brightness needed to obtain a beautiful image when using either the internal flash or external flash units such as the Konica Minolta Program Flash 5600HS(D) or 3600HS(D), and 2500(D). A round aperture makes it possible to enhance a defocused image with smooth grada- tions and depict a scene naturally, for example, sunshine filtering through foliage or grass glistening with morning dew.

Rush on Treatment of Soldiers
He's got it right here!!!
Just a little something I would pass on to you all in regards to the where the ones in harms way fall.
Those of you who know me , know how I feel bout this issue......"some gave all, those come 1st"
Love him or loathe him, he nailed this one right on the head.......... By Rush Limbaugh:
I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.
If yo u are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.
Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.
Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 milli on are complaining that it's not enough Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers.
We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the
You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in com bat in the

Slik SBH Ball Heads

While searching the internet for a suitable quick release system for my camera supports, I was reminded how happy and impressed I was with my tripod ball head. So, I decided to do a little review of the head to assist those who may be looking for a stout, reliable, easy to use ball head.
I use the Slik SBH Ball Heads and am extremely happy with their build and performance. These heads are part of Slik's professional series. They come in three (3) sizes. The SBH-280, SBH-320, and the SBH-550 the largest of which will carry a load of up to 22 pounds. I currently use the 550 on my main tripod and I have a 320 on order for a window pod I got last Christmas. I can't wait until it gets here. Now if I could only decide on a suitable Quick Release for these amazing heads. If anyone has experience with a reliable quick release system, please, let me know. Whatever the QR system used (if any), I am convinced these heads are the best value for your dollar.
Besides being extremely well built and reliable what I really love is their design. They all operate flawlessly with a SINGLE oversized knob. When the head is released, not only does the ball portion of the head move freely, the main body encasing the head can turn on its base for quick and easy movement as well. This design makes it the most easy to use ball head ever! I highly recomend one of these great heads.
I'm still leaning towards a Mac. I'm simply waiting on their new OS to come out. I am extremely tired of Microsoft problems! I believe Leopard (the new OS) is due sometime in June. Unless something drastic changes my mind between now and then I will convert to Macintosh.

Al Gore’s Personal Energy Use
by Drew Johnson, Tennessee Center for Policy Research
posted February 26, 2007
Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.
Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.
The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh — more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh — guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.
Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.
“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.
In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Today was the USG Ice Fishing Contest. It was held at Park Lake. A great time held by all. It must, also, be noted that the food was great. Not bad placement considering he and I could only spend half a day on the ice.

Wish of a Young Cancer Patient
Me And Anna Nicole Smith

I am officially putting my hat into the ring. In spite of all the false claims everyone has heard in the media - I am the father of Annie's child. I must confess, I had a clandestine affair with dear Annie which lasted about 11 months. While temporarily residing in my double-wide trailer with me, Annie told me she was tired of all the damn money-hungry scavengers who were constantly invading her otherwise pristine life. The chaos was more than she could bear and she wanted me to make her the 'princess' of my little trailer park. I tried to grant her request, too, but my wife would have nothing to do with it.
If anyone should have any doubts as to MY paternity of precious, little Dannielynn Hope, I simply say . . . fly me to the Bahamas. After a short three week, or so, stay over there I am sure this will all be cleared up. There will be no further doubts in anyones mind if they see me side-by-side with my little angel. While I am there I would like to meet Annie's beautiful mother. I've had a secret crush on her for some time. I even believe she would be good marrying material and we should meet to see if there are any sparks. If not I would sure like to meet her awesome sister Donna. It's like we were made for each other. I love you Donna.
So, Larry, Fredrick, and Howard - step aside. We all know what the real truth is. You greedy bastards have too much money already, anyway. Beside, money is not what's important here. I simply want to be united with my family. I demand it. Someone please send me some tickets (and a little spending cash) so I can get this debacle straightened out, once and for all.
Donna dearest and mom, hope to see you soon!

Sandstone County * Episode Fifty-Six
Yesterday, the temperature was very frigid and a strong northern wind wasn't making it any better. In the midst of this terrible weather Officer Hidrent and his partner were outside directing traffic. They were both unbearably cold. All the while, their Sargent was sitting comfortably in his warm squad car, drinking a hot coffee and watching these two men at work in the ghastly weather. Officer Hidrent suddenly asked his partner, "why are we out in this weather directing traffic when our boss is up there in the comfort of his vehicle?"
"I don't know," responded the other. "I'll ask him."
So he crossed the street and went to his boss. "Sarge, why are we out in this terrible weather and you're sitting comfortably in your squad?"
"Intelligence," the boss replied."
"What do you mean, ‘intelligence'?"
"I'll show you," the Sargent said, as he climbed from his vehicle. "I'll put my hand on this tree and I want you to hit it with your fist as hard as you can." The officer took a mighty swing and tried to hit the boss's hand. The Sargent quickly removed his hand and the officer hit the tree hard. The boss then said, "Now, that's intelligence, so get back to work!"
The wounded officer went back to his station, rubbing his sore hand. Hidrent asked him, "What did he say?"
"He said we are down here because of intelligence."
"What's intelligence?" asked the puzzled Hidrent?
The officer, hand still throbbing, put his hand on his face and said, "take your flashlight and hit my hand as hard as you can . . ."

I am not surprised she did not get the title, however. The song was entitled 'Ritual - Nous Sommes du Soleil' and the full lyrics go -
Nous sommes du soleil. We love when we play.
Nous sommes du soleil. We love when we play.
Open doors we find our way
We look we see we smile
Surely daybreaks cross our path
And stay maybe a while
Let them run, let them chase
Let them hid between
Constant doors will open eyes
As life seems like
Life seems like a
Fight, fight, fight
Maybe I'll just sing awhile
And then give you a call
Maybe I'll just say hello
And say maybe that's all
Hurry home as love is true
Will help us through the night
Till we're coming home again
Our life seems like
Life seems like a
Fight, fight, fight
Catch as we look and use the passions that flow
As we try we continue
We receive all we venture to give
Maybe we'll just stand awhile
And surely we can call
Dreams are said to blossom courage
Constant to the soul
Change we must as surely time does
Changes call the course
Held inside we enter daybreaks

Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air

And no one showed us to the land
And no one knows the wheres or whys
But something stirs and something tries
And starts to climb toward the light
Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can
And no one calls us to move on
And no one forces down our eyes
And no one speaks and no one tries
And no one flies around the sun
Cloudless every day you fall upon my waking eyes
Inciting and inviting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Comes streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning
And no one sings me lullabies
And no one makes me close my eyes
And so I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky

Sandstone County Sheriffs Department - To Serve, To Protect, To Get Rid of All Dirtbag Criminals by 2026
A man was going to bed one night when his wife told him that he had left the light on in the shed. She could see the light was on from the bedroom window. As the man looked for himself he saw that there were people in the shed taking things.
The man phoned 911, but they told him that no one was in the area to help him at that time, but they would send someone over as soon as they were available.
He said "OK," hung up, and waited one minute, then phoned them again. "Hello" he said, "I just called you a minute ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now 'cause I've shot them."
Within five minutes there were half a dozen police cars in the area, an Armed Response unit, the works. Of course, they caught the burglars red-handed.
Officer Hidrent said: "I thought you said that you shot them!"The man replied, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

The album was called "Brain Salad Surgery" and the song is titled "Karn Evil 9" and it is definitely Emerson, Lake, and Palmer!
The whole song follows:
Cold and misty morning, I heard a warning borne in the air
About an age of power where no one had an hour to spare,
Where the seeds have withered, silent children shivered, in the cold
Now their faces captured in the lenses of the jackals for gold.
Ill be there
Ill be there
I will be there.
Suffering in silence, theyve all been betrayed.
They hurt them and they beat them, in a terrible way,
Praying for survival at the end of the day.
There is no compassion for those who stay.
Ill be there
Ill be there
I will be there.
There must be someone who can set them free:
To take their sorrow from this odyssey
To help the helpless and the refugee
To protect whats left of humanity.

Newest Family Addition

Victoria (Tori) Rose Mallory was born in Cloquet on 28 December. What a queen. She came into this world at 10:53am weighing 7 lbs and 6ozs. She was 20 inches long.
Her older sister tells me she is very, glad to have a sister and NOT another brother. I do know however, that she loves her brother dearly. Thank You Tammie for another wonderful family addition.

Argh, Not Again
As, you may have noticed, my recent posting has been scarce. I have been having a lot of computer problems. I managed to make a few posts here and there, including this one. It is difficult, as I usually get booted off in the middle of my entries. So, for the most part I haven't posted anything but, rather worked extensively on diagnostics. I thought it was cured one time only to find out I still had problems.
A while back I got very tired of Internet Explorer and finally switched to Firefox. I am now seriously considering a switch to the Macintosh system. Does anyone have any extensive experience with Apple. I would sure like to hear some pros and cons, esp. as it compares to the pc.
In the mean time my posts will be limited, as I continue to work on my technical difficulties. I hope to be up to full swing soon.

Music Trivia

From what song does the following come from -
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And who can give the verse which follows?
Found on Led Zeppelin's fourth album, which was released in 1971, many consider 'Stairway To Heaven' to be the greatest song of all time. This amazing song was never released as a single. After all it is eight minutes long. It went platinum numerous times and is the biggest selling sheet music in rock history.
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.
There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.
And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.
Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Sandstone County * Episode Fifty-Three
One afternoon, deputy Hidrent was heading home at the end of his shift, when he saw two men eating grass by the road side. He pulled over and got out to investigate. "Why are you eating grass?" he asked one man.
"We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied.
"Oh, come along with me then," instructed the deputy.
"But, sir, I have a wife and two children!"
"Bring them along!" replied Hidrent. He then turned to the other man and said, "You can come with us, too"
"But sir, I have a wife and six children!" the second man answered.
"Bring them as well, they to are welcome!" answered the deputy.
The adults climbed into the car and the children followed behind on foot, as they could not all fit in the vehicle. Deputy Hidrent kindly drove real slow, so as not to lose any of the children. After a couple of miles, one of the poor fellows says, "Officer, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you."
Deputy Hidrent replied, "No problem sir, the grass at my house is almost a foot tall."

Don't Slouch?

Wow. First the experts tell me that Pluto is no longer a planet and now they tell me my mother was wrong!
For years my mother reminded my siblings and I to sit up straight. We heard this from our teachers, too. This was supposed to be good for our bones and I received many scoldings over this. To this day I am constantly having to remind myself to correct my posture, especially while sitting at my desk. Now it seems my mother was a liar.
A new study done by researchers at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland has shown that a more laid back posture (ha, mom) is actually better for us. The best posture, they say, is actually at a 135-degree angle and not the bolt-upright position that I have learned to loath. This would be somewhat of a sprawl which is halfway between being upright and prone. It seems that despite my repeated attempts to follow mothers advice I was sitting correctly more often than not, all along. Researchers concluded that the 135-degree position, I most often defaulted to, put the least amount of strain on the discs, muscles, and tendons.
Using the correct posture is still important. It is only our belief in what the 'correct posture' is that has changed. "Sitting in a sound anatomic position is essential, since the strain put on the spine and its associated ligaments over time can lead to pain, deformity and chronic illness," said WaseemAmir Bashir, lead author of the study.
Bashir isn't alone in these beliefs. Other experts and doctors agree. Gunnar Andersson, the chairman of orthopedics at Rush University in Chicago discovered 30 years ago that a 135-degree angle was optimal. Other ergonomics specialists from office furniture makers such as Herman Miller and Steelcase, also agree. They've been incorporating reclining positions into their products for years.
It simply comes back to listening to your own body. If it doesn't feel comfortable, it's probably not good for you. Personally, I am elated with these findings and feel that there should be a recliner behind every desk. Now if the experts would just tell me my mother was wrong about my vegetables.
