The Mafia Name Generator
This is a cool little site I stumbled upon. The Mafia Name Generator Type in your name (or anyones name, for that matter) and it generates a mafia name for you. I was duped 'Blood Bath Nicky'. See what you come up with.

Kirby Puckett, after stroke, dies at 45
SI.com - Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett, after stroke, dies at 45
Kirby was missed once when glaucoma took him out of the game and now he will be missed again. He was a hall-of-famer if ever there was one. And I really relish the fact that his whole career was spent in Minnesota. Most professional athletes attain at least some degree of fame and respect, but Kirby's was extremely elevated. Known not only for his extreme athleticism and mastery on the diamond but, also, for his charismatic personality, his unending smile, encouraging nature, and his ability to make everyone around him feel great. I always knew this but, didn't appreciate the broad scope of peoples love for him until today. The radio has gone non stop with everyone's out-pouring of love for this giant. The endless tales of praise from people he has come in contact with are phenomenal. I'm not talking about Minnesotans only. I'm talking about the whole nation. And calls from admiring people are not abating. Wow.
I'll not write more on this because many, many writers will be expressing their thoughts much more elegantly than I. Everyone has something to say about Kirby.
Kirby we'll miss you and keep catching 'em up there.

Minnesota Deer Hunters Association
My son-in-law, granddaughter, and I took a quick trip to the DECC today. We browsed the booths put on by the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. It was a good time. We checked out the one-piece deer stands being made right here in Minnesota. We , also, visited a booth which makes very artistic boxes out of solid pieces of wood. But the highlight of the day was the Wall of Shame.
This exhibit featured various game animals, mostly deer, which were captured illegally. And what a shame it was, for all of these magnificent specimens had to be forfeited. To have such wonderful trophies and then have to give them up would be heartbreaking. I guess if you can't play by the rules what can you expect.
All in all, it was a good show. It only lacked in quantity. Don't expect to spend much time here because there is not a lot to see. The few booths they did have were interesting but, they needed more.

My Recent Scare
I had a horrific scare this week. My eldest granddaughter was pushed on the playground and suffered a minor concussion. My grandchildren are my life and events like this can almost cause a panic in me. I have heard that concussions can potentially be very dangerous. I received the call while five hours from home. It's times like these which make me regret having employment requiring travel. After receiving the initial phone call, my knees physically hit the floor while I prayed. This has not happened in a long time. I was that concerned.
As far as I can tell, the event was much more serious in my mind than in reality. But, I did not know the degree of injury at the time. I can not wait until I see her again. I have since talked to her and she seemed to be her old, bubbly self. How I love that girl. And I shall continue to pray for her and all my family.
